I am a fully qualified counsellor / psychotherapist based in Orpington, Kent.
My specialism is on the impacts of trauma, from events such as accidents, violence, serious illness, childhood neglect, adult and childhood sexual abuse, sexual trauma, domestic abuse and emotional abuse. I also work with clients with many other issues, including:
-
Depression
-
Anxiety
-
Panic attacks
-
OCD behaviours
-
Self-destructive behaviours
-
Self-harm
-
Low self-esteem
-
Poor self-confidence
-
Stress and overwhelm
-
Family / relationship difficulties
-
Eating issues
-
Body image issues
In my work with clients I provide support using a trauma-informed approach, which means rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" I am instead more interested in asking, "What's happened to you?" Very often, the mental and emotional problems we experience are a direct result of what we have been through in life, and with the right support, such as the counselling relationship offers, it is possible to overcome difficulties and find strength, happiness, meaning, and fulfilment, even during really challenging periods.
I understand the courage it requires to take the first step and seek help. But I also know that it is possible to find a way through complicated personal issues and hard times and lead a happier and more productive life, with more meaningful relationships and less emotional instability.
Please note that I only work with adults over the age of 18 and I do not offer couples or group counselling.
